And Then There Was...Game Over

Are you ready to play?

Seconds, minutes, hours, days, nights, weeks, weekends, all-nighters, months, years…the ink from my veins producing…letters, words, phrases, commas, quotation marks, sentences, characters, multiple drafts, multiple revisions, plot changes, pages, chapters, read, re-read, have others read, editor, edit, edit, edit, I said edit, designer, concepts, read, read and re-read. All lead up to..today, the day I can finally share it with all  of you. Game Over is officially available for purchase in both paperback and ebook formats.

I’m extremely excited to finally arrive at the day when I can say that my debut novel is officially available for purchase. Writing a novel was a goal of mine and although it has been a grueling process, having done it, and now to be at the promotion phase, it feels amazing. So much work went into producing a project like this. I’ve read so many versions of my book so many times because each time I would go through the editing process, I’d have to read it again and again. I would get so exhausted that I would let my book sit for months before I would look at it again. I’m old school when it comes to reading my projects so I print the pages because I need to hold a hard copy in my hand and read it that way, so several trees died during the making of this book.

Although this is my debut novel, this is my fifth published book. I’ve gone through the process of publishing books in the past however, this one is completely different. It is a novel. When I first started writing this book, I was living in New York City and began my first pages during a class at Gotham Writer’s Workshop. I was taking a Fiction writing class and a Screenwriting class simultaneously. I already had a full plate with work so I decided to write Game Over in each of the classes. During a trip to Los Angeles, at the time, a friend of a friend told me that I should write the novel and the screenplay. The idea stuck with me. Hence, I enrolled in the two classes. By the time I completed the classes, I had fifty pages of the novel written and twenty-five pages of the screenplay so I decided to proceed with the novel and place the screenplay on hold. Although as a reader this may seem like it was a quick process, it was not. Today, my novel is published and I have around ninety-five pages of the screenplay. Yes, I plan on completing that as well which is one of my many writing projects in the pipeline.

You’ll get to meet the cast of characters that make up this fictional story and it has it all. Game Over is set in Los Angeles and tells the story of Joaquin Otero, a struggling actor who is catapulted into becoming the personal assistant to the president and founder of Imperial Games, the most controversial video game company, famous for its violence. Viewing the position as a pit-stop with his eyes set on making it in Hollywood, Joaquin reluctantly takes on the role of being the right hand to Mike Chapman, ex-con and mastermind behind Imperial Games. Drug runs, appointments with prostitutes, and planning infamous parties is just another day for Joaquin. Initiated into “the family,” Joaquin soon discovers that Mike sits at the throne of the video game kingdom but his sister Rachel, Imperial’s Chief Creative Officer, resides in his shadow. With time, it becomes apparent that “family” is just another word when secrets begin to unravel in a world where there are multiple players, not even a reset button can stop the game from being over.

For now, I will simply enjoy the moment and celebrate that my book is finally published and I am excited for all of you to read it. You can buy it on Amazon and enjoy. I have to get back to writing.
